Itinerary
DAY 1 – Arrival in Lima
Welcome to Peru
After landing in Lima, you’ll be greeted by a friendly representative holding a personalized sign. From the airport, you’ll be escorted to a conveniently located hotel nearby. Once checked in, you’ll have time to settle in, freshen up, and recover from your international flight with a peaceful night’s rest.
DAY 2 – Journey into the Andes
Flight to Cusco & Visit to a Historic Hacienda
In the morning, you’ll return to the airport to catch your flight to Cusco. As you ascend, take in the dramatic transformation from coastal desert to the snow-capped peaks of the Andes.
Just outside of Cusco, the countryside opens up to reveal tranquil villages and terraced hillsides. Your day continues with a visit to a centuries-old hacienda near Pisac. Here, you’ll learn about the cultivation of giant white corn, a crop with deep cultural roots in the Andes.
Savor a multi-course lunch featuring this Andean staple, and enjoy a performance of the traditional «marinera» dance by Peruvian Paso horses. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even try riding one yourself.
In the afternoon, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in the Sacred Valley to rest and enjoy the surrounding mountain scenery.
DAY 3 – Exploring the Sacred Valley
Ollantaytambo Ruins & Traditional Pachamanca Lunch
Today begins with a private tour of Ollantaytambo, an ancient Incan town that still preserves its original layout. You’ll explore the fortress that once served as a strategic stronghold, learn about the nearby quarries, and hear stories of battles between Incas and conquistadors.
Following the tour, you’ll experience a Pachamanca lunch—an age-old Andean cooking tradition where meats and vegetables are baked underground with hot stones. While the food cooks, you’ll have the chance to stroll through an organic garden, sample freshly roasted coffee, and taste locally distilled cañazo (a sugarcane spirit).
The rest of your afternoon is free to relax back at your hotel in the Sacred Valley.
DAY 4 – The Lost City of the Incas
Luxury Train Ride & Guided Tour of Machu Picchu
Today is a major highlight: a journey to the iconic citadel of Machu Picchu. Board the Hiram Bingham luxury train for a scenic ride through the cloud forest, complete with gourmet onboard dining and live Andean music.
Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes, a bus will take you up to the entrance of Machu Picchu. With your private guide, you’ll explore the terraces, temples, and hidden corners of this legendary site. Clouds drift through the ancient stone structures, adding to the mystique.
In the evening, return to Aguas Calientes to unwind at your hotel and enjoy a delicious dinner with the sounds of the jungle surrounding you.
DAY 5 – Machu Picchu, Your Way
Optional Hike to Huayna Picchu & Return to the Sacred Valley
After a leisurely breakfast, you can choose to hike the steep but rewarding trail up Huayna Picchu—the dramatic peak that appears behind Machu Picchu in most photographs. From the summit, you’ll get a unique and breathtaking perspective of the entire site.
Later, enjoy lunch before boarding the return trip on the Hiram Bingham train. Relax with a gourmet dinner and live entertainment onboard. Upon arrival, you’ll be met at the station and transferred to your hotel for a restful night.
DAY 6 – Maras & Moray on Horseback
Traditional Chicha & Horseback Ride Through the Highlands
Today’s adventure takes you off the beaten path to explore the Sacred Valley’s hidden gems. You’ll begin with a hands-on experience learning how to make Chicha de Jora, a traditional fermented corn beverage, followed by a cultural ceremony associated with the drink.
Afterward, enjoy a flavorful lunch inspired by the diverse culinary heritage of Peru.
In the afternoon, saddle up on a Peruvian Paso horse for a scenic 3.5-hour ride through the Andean highlands. Along the way, visit the fascinating salt terraces of Maras, the quaint village of the same name, and the Incan agricultural site of Moray.
The ride concludes with a descent through farmlands framed by stunning mountain views. Once back at the ranch, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in Cusco.
DAY 7 – Discovering Cusco
Private City Tour Through History and Culture
After breakfast, set out on a private tour of Cusco, a city rich in Incan and colonial history. Begin with the awe-inspiring ruins of Sacsayhuamán, where massive stones tell the story of ancient resistance against the Spanish conquest.
Stroll through the artsy neighborhood of San Blas, visit Qoricancha—the former Temple of the Sun—and see how Spanish architecture merged with Inca foundations at the Santo Domingo Monastery.
Explore the bustling San Pedro Market and admire the famous 12-angled stone, a symbol of Incan masonry. Your guide will offer lunch recommendations, and the rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy the city at your own pace.
DAY 8 – Cusco to Lima & Journey Home
Colonial Lima & Farewell
This morning, you’ll catch your flight back to Lima, where your local host will welcome you for your final day. Drive along the coast toward the historic Pueblo Libre district to visit the renowned Larco Museum. Before exploring the galleries, enjoy a relaxing lunch on the museum’s garden terrace.
Inside, discover one of the most comprehensive collections of pre-Columbian art, including gold and silver artifacts and the famous erotic ceramics collection.
Your final tour continues through Lima’s colonial center, where you’ll see the grand Cathedral and the eerie catacombs of the San Francisco Convent.
Conclude with a stop at Casa Aliaga, a 16th-century mansion still occupied by the same family.
At the appropriate time, you’ll be taken to the airport for your international flight home.
